Costa Rica Information | Real Estate Information
Over recent years, Costa Rica has experienced an explosion in tourism, in large part due to the beauty and diversity of the land, the abundance of activities to do while on vacation here, ease of transport to and around the country, modern services and facilities, and finally, the safe, friendly atmosphere fostered by the stable, democratic Costa Rican government. Due to the construction of the Daniel Obuder international airport, this boom has been centered in Guanacaste, and this region has been labeled the “Gold Coast” region in Costa Rica. Tamarindo, located in the heart of the “Gold Coast” now receives more visitors than anywhere else in Costa Rica, and is also where Orange Real Estate is located.
The landscape and climate of the country has something to offer all. The temperature remains relatively constant throughout the year; only varying depending on elevation (for example the temperature in San Jose is 70 degrees farenheit, and the temperature in Guanacaste hovers around 90). There is a marked rainy season throughout the country lasting from June until November, but is certainly mildest in Guanacaste. In Guanacaste, it does not rain from the middle of December until the middle of May, and even in the rainy season, the overwhelming majority of the days are clear and sunny for most of the day.
Literally translated as the “Rich Coast”, Costa Rica has many miles of coastline, lined with pristine beaches up and down both the Pacific and Carribean coasts. The diverse beaches vary in size, shape, color, level of development, etc. In addition to the beautiful beaches Costa Rica is known for, where most of the tourism and activities are centered, the country is filled with many other natural treasures Costa Rica. Throughout the entire country, you will find the ecology as varied as anywhere in the world. A short drive will take you to Central America’s most active volcano, Volcan Arenal, where one can view the eruptions nightly. To the south, a short flight can take you to National Park Corcovado, real tropical jungle and rainforest. And while the country has worked to provide a substantial tourist infrastructure, the Government and locals alike have realized the importance of guarding and maintaining the natural treasures. As a result, more than 30% of the country is national protected land and preserves.
Combining the diverse physical landscape of the country with the developed tourist infrastructure has given rise to wide ranging set of activities for all types of people to enjoy. The idyllic beaches are perfect for relaxing in the sun and swimming in the temperate water. In addition, the pacific coast is home to some of the best surfing in the world. Guanacaste is peppered with surf breaks, with everything from waves suited for 1 st timers to waves for proffesionals. The pacific waters are also home to some of the world’s best sportfishing. With an abundance of golf courses, scuba diving spots, opportunities to go horseback riding, take nature hikes, go bird-watching, observe turtles nesting, take ATV tours of the back-country, sail, tour the forest canopy on zip-lines, ocean kayak, white-water raft, and mountain bike through the hilly terrain there really is something for everyone.
All of these activities can be easily enjoyed due to the extensive transportation network, both national and international, that Costa Rica has in place. The opening of the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste has made international travel that much easier. Currently Delta, American, and Continental airlines have over 30 direct flights per week. Tamarindo, as well as the majority of the “Gold Coast”, is located within an hour by car of this airport. The road from the Liberia airport is paved the entire way to Tamarindo. There are an abundance of car rental agencies in addition to an extensive national bus and flight service.
Although still relatively undeveloped, infrastructure and services have been put in place so that you won’t have to concede the comforts and services you are accustomed to at home. Costa Rica is home to world-renowned, high quality, affordable medical and dental service; and as such, you can travel or live here without having to worry about health concerns. Staying in touch with the rest of the world is also very easy as there is high-speed internet available, and the television cable system has networks from several countries. There are many other services conveniently available, including mechanics, pharmacies, maid service, grocery stores, and hardware stores.
Lastly, and most importantly, Costa Rica is a safe, stable country known for the hospitality of the people. Costa Rica has been nicknamed the Switzerland of the Americas for their neutrality and approach to peace which is exhibited by the fact that there is no standing army. The democratic government has held peaceful elections for several decades, and the country proudly boasts a literacy rate of over 90%. The Costa Rican people, affectionately called Ticos, are known to be some of the nicest, friendliest people in the world. There is a strong sense of community, and Ticos are always willing to give a helping hand whenever they can.
It is definitely worth the time and effort to come to know this great country.
